The Curatio installation in the "Medizinische Klinik" in Mainz (Germany) propitiates an extraordinary conjunction of work and context. The artwork establishes a link between the building and it function as a hospital by transforming the ancient Greek Symbol: the rod of Asclepius into language - "Curatio" (latin for Healing). The rod of Asclepius symbolizes the healing arts by combining the serpent, which in shedding its skin is a symbol of rebirth and fertility, with the staff, a symbol of authority befitting the god of Medicine.
Curatio is a stainless steel rod measuring 13.5 meters with red letters entwined around it. The artwork is installed outside. Another transformation of the word Curatio ist placed in the public foyer. (Presstxt)
